In viewing a painting by
Janet Mason, one immediately recognize that here is an artist that uses
versatile, vibrant colors and textures to accentuate the high energy and
emotions she senses from her subjects, whether it is a person, animal,
or place.
Janet uses the camera to capture
candid, non-posed, situations. “I regard the camera as a tool to seize
a moment in time and prefer working from my own photographs; because then
I have experienced the scene or the person and their personality.”
She works quickly and confidently,
frequently putting a realistic subject on an abstract background.
“I like working with an abstract background because it assists me in getting
the mood I desire into the painting. Using acrylic or oil paint directly
from the tube and applying it with a rubber palette knife enables me to
attain the heavy surface texture I desire.”
“I enjoy painting because every day
is a new challenge and I will always be learning and improving. People
fascinate me and my passion is capturing a subject’s mood or emotion.
Therefore I enjoy doing commissions, especially children. I have
also done commissions of Jazz and Deco scenes, so if you have a special
need, let’s talk.”
Art on Main is located in the historic
district of Llano, Texas. There you will find Janet with paintbrush
in hand creating yet another composition in her gallery/studio.
Her paintings are in corporate and
private collections in the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia.
